I Love It!

My sister is visiting so it's been hard to get any sewing done. The kids adore her and follow her every move when she is here. Last night she went to bed early (they really wore her out), so I got to get some sewing done. I finally finished top number four for the Spring Top Week sewingpalooza. I had originally made this top last week in a heavier weight knit and it just didn't look right. I used McCalls 6078 which is a pretty simple design. My sister brought me some beautiful chocolate brown slinky knit from L.A. so I thought I'd give this pattern another try. I am so glad I did. It is gorgeous! I even got my sister to model the top for me. Yay!
Hopefully I can get my fifth top done (my own personal challenge) by the end of the month. Chef is in Portland again until Friday which is when my sister leaves. It's usually quite a few days until the house gets back to normal after she leaves.

  1. Saw your top in the pool and came to learn more. It's beautiful and your sis did a great job modeling too! I wonder if it's one of those tops that you can wear either direction???

  4. Thank you all! I was pretty jazzed when my sister put it on. She's pretty edgy so it looks fab on her. It's one of those tops that does not look good on the hanger so I was excited when I saw it on her.

  7. craftedbymama,
The first version of this top I made from a heavier weight knit with less stretch and it would not stay on my shoulders. The one pictured here I made a size smaller than my measurements and used a super slinky knit with some lycra in it. That helped a lot. This is pictured on my sister and her shoulders are more square so it stays nicely. For me I'm going to have to add a little bra holder tabs inside. I did this on my wedding dress too so my bra straps wouldn't peek out of the straps. Can't wait to see your top!
