I haven't made the Oliver + S Sailboat pants in a while and I had to trace the next size up. What I totally forgot was to add length in the rise and length in the pant leg. With that said, I like these pants a lot. Chef said "OMG! When are you going to dress him like a BOY?!?"
In the photos they really don't look all that girlie, but when I put them on... well, I am the first to admit, he was awfully pretty.
Fabric is a pale blue cotton twill from Fashion Fabrics Club
Front yoke lining is a rocket fabric (anyone know the designer?) which I once made an adorable pair of pants for Vinny for his older brothers space themed birthday party. I clearly forgot to document the awesome outfit I made.

My partner said something remarkably similar when I made these for our kid. And mine were in super-manly denim! Men don't understand...
ReplyDeleteI'm plotting another pair in twill with brown buttons for extra blokishness.
So cute!! I can see the girlie factor though. In fact, in the last Ottobre there was a girls pattern that is remarkably similar.
ReplyDeletesweet pants! I do know the designer, and must proclaim you a genius because I used the exact fabric for the facing on my sailboat pant! (http://www.flickr.com/photos/62188468@N00/4485007202/in/set-72157602991715013)
ReplyDeleteIr's Keri Beyer's Rocket Scientist for In the Beginning fabrics. Such a cool print, wish I'd bought more!
That's okay b/c everyone says I dress my daughter like a boy...it drives my babysitter nuts. She gets all offended when people say "isn't he cute." Me? I just say "thank you."
ReplyDeleteReally cute pants by the way. I just bought the pattern and am excited to make a pair...someday...
Cuteness. Hilarious comment by Chef though. Pretty boys are just so much more fun though!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. Love the pants but they are super girly. The combo of the sailor style and the cropped legs is the one two punch. But I still put them on my son!
