A Tutorial and a Giveaway!

Giveaway Closed
Hello everyone who has come over from Sewmamasew. Everyone else, of course a great welcome to you too! I hope you enjoy the tutorial I have for this great baby carrier, the Pea Pod, posted on the sewmamasew blog!

(I'm giving away the two carriers pictured above! There's more info on the giveaway below)

I also have a great companion tutorial to go along with the baby carrier. Introducing...

About two months ago I spied a woman in the grocery store with her 12 month old wearing one of these in the shopping cart. I stalked her for a few isles and finally decided I better get a closer look at that thing. It looked like something she made herself but she looked at me like I was smoking crack when I suggested such a thing. I sometimes forget that not everyone sews. I wanted to know where such a magical thing could be purchased. Confused we both looked for a tag. Couldn't find one but who cares 'cause ya know what? I can sew beotch! So here's the scoop.

"This baby harness can be used as a more reliable safety belt in shopping carts. It is also great for use in restaurant high chairs or when no high chair is available you can use it on a regular chair. It also converts to a leash for those times that your little one is just itching to make a run for it."

So that's the lingo I used for the pattern because you never know who will download this pattern in the future and they may not really get my humor (or lack of).

Here are the links to the downloads for the instructions and the pattern pieces (please let me know if these links don''t work. I'm trying something new).

I hope you enjoy both of my new designs. They took a lot of work to perfect, which drove me crazy, but you benefit from the craziness. My very first giveaway! You can win one of the two carriers pictured on the Pea Pod Carrier pattern cover. Next week I'll be doing a giveaway on the Handy Harness.

Two chances per person... First, just leave me a comment.  Say "Hi", leave me a personal comment, or let me know something about you! The second way to enter is to become a follower. Just leave a comment letting me know you are following. If you are already a follower just leave a comment telling me that you already follow. If you mess up an want to change any of your comments just delete the first and leave a new one. Easy peasy. The giveaway ends on Sunday, October 17th (my half birthday, yes I used to celebrate this when I was younger), at 9 p.m. p.s.t.  Open to the entire World!

For those of you that don't win or just like instant gratification I have some of these beauties available in my shop. Lucky you.

Most of all, thank you for your continued support. I'm so glad to have you guys come and visit my little piece of the web.

Those carriers are very cute. And I love the harness. I'm going to try and make my own, but I'll probably try and win one too because I'm sure yours will be better looking than mine. :)

Um, Rockstar? A tutorial-that is awesome-and on sewmamasew!! Way to go! And I LOVE your sense of humor too!

Your tutorial for the handy harness couldn't have come at a better time. I just about lost my mind the last time I took my toddler to the grocery store. He's an escape artist too. It never occurred to me to sew something to keep him in.

I just downloaded the pattern. Thank you! I'll make it for sure if I don't win yours...I'm loving it with the scooter fabric. Adorable!

Great pattern and I love the print! I have it in the blue colorway, but it looks really hip in the black one. Perfect timing - I am expecting a baby in March and researching baby carriers like you wouldn't believe. Thanks for the great tutorial!

I love these - my kids (twins) are just at the age where they want to climb out of anything I put them in, so the harness looks really useful.

Oh boy...could I ever use one of those harnesses. I have a 1 year old and a 2 year old and often when we go out to eat they don't have 2 high chairs available...leaving me to put the 2year old in a booster that you can't strap her in. Not strapping equals lots of boucing around and an annoyed mother.

sembatgirl said...

Thanks for the giveaway! What a great idea!

Stacy.Wills said...

What a handy carrier! I made my own Mei Tie with interchangeable panels (it has come in handy with a 4 month old, 2 yr old and 4 yr old running around), but it sometimes feels a little fussy to get into. This carrier looks really awesome!

I love this! Was just thinking I needed something exactly like this while hauling my 18 month old around the store the other day!

Lovely carrier (one can NEVER have too many baby-wearing devices!) and the harness is fabulous. I can't even count how many carts I've gotten without a strap at all, but this would take care of that!

Laura Drew said...

Love your blog! You have great style!

And now I am following...yay!

Steph Jacobson said...

Great idea--little ones can be pretty squirmy, and those belts on the grocery carts cannot contain them!

Palila said...

That's brilliant! Really, it is.

Patricia said...

These both look fabulous. We were just out yesterday with my 2 month old niece (we are expecting our first in February). My sister in Law mussed around for about 15 minutes with the new carrier she bought that was supposed to be 'simple to use'. It was $130! I thought, there must be a better way.
I hope I can muster up enough patience to work my way through this one! Of course winning one would be even better.
Thanks for sharing.

oh, i LOVE LOVE LOVE the carrier pattern! of course i'd love to win one, as your's are probably just more perfect than i could ever make them, but just in case i will go get some fabrics soon and get going. i have 9 month old that wants to be carried around all the time. and crawl. and be carried. and crawl. well, with the ergo carrier it is a real pain, so i usually just carry him around without it. your easy hip carrier sounds like the perfect solution for me. but i'm rambeling.

so, thank you for the pattern and the opportunity!
