{holiday crafting and all that cheer}

Those 40% off one item coupons can be fan-f$%@ing-tabulous. I mean if you needed that one item anyway it's like a jackpot. For me not so much. I feel the need to walk into Michaels/JoAnn's/Beverly's/younamethestorethat'sgotmynumber and buy shit. I am not kidding that I have a table full of craft/knitting/sewing projects that have suddenly found their way into my house.

In case you are reading this and live in another country that does not do the crazy coupon frenzy thing like us Americans, let me brief you. Most of the big craft/fabric chain stores issue a 40% off one item coupon (they are issued by the bucket loads with varying dates of eligibility to get us to return multiple times, unfortunately). These stores know that by getting my sorry ass into their doors I will not only buy my one l i t t l e item at 40% off retail price, but I will continue to fill my shopping cart until all savings of said piddly little item are completely forgotten.

Moral of story. Buy handmade and forget about handmaking. It's cheaper. Trust me.

Shame on me - I am the same too.
The first times, I shopped like hell, now, after nearly a year here, I slowed down a little bit.

Still, I NEVER EVER come out with only one item, I always come out with a bag full of things.... stuff... material....

Funny, that a lot of CHEAP things make a BIG amount to pay in the end...

Everytime I check the bill because I am sure there must be a fault on it - it never is *sigh*

Greetings,
Tina

Isn't that the truth!?! I have sacks of crafting materials that lay waiting for me to create, but at some point, those sacks of goods will be organized into my little bins, sitting, waiting, collecting dust. At least you're MAKING with them! Looks like some cute gingerbread men to me. :)

I feel your pain. For me the problem is that I usually hate going to Joanns so if I'm there I might as well buy everything that I need. The lines are ridiculously long (especially this time of year) and is it just me, or do you also get stuck behind the annoying people who are haggling with the checkout folks over 10 cents?

I feel your pain. Not only have I been suckered by the coupons, I too am wading through craft/sewing projects that would have been cheaper bought by someone else who has the motivation to finish them before Christmas!
Anyhoo, I love your blog!

Those coupons are evil. How about coupon commotion? It's too much. I wish a hipster would open a cool coupon free craft store in my town.

So it's WAY better to shop at the independently-owned, fancy-schmancy, far more expensive, and stingy-with-the-coupons fabric stores in my area, right?

Right?

Oh man you are SO TOTALLY not kidding. I always end up needing 10 zillion spools of thread and have one 40% off coupon. What a bummer waste of a coupon. I wish they would replace that 40% off your custom framing order with 15% off your total purchase or something like. Jeez guys!

Also what is going on with these gingerbread people, they look like they're going to be something really awesome.
