Doll Progress

I love you guys! Thanks for the comments on my last post. It's not like I thought I was alone in this crazy crafting madness, but it feels good to hear it every once in a while. It really got me thinking about how it all started for me. I have specific memories as a child starting projects and getting sidetracked by new projects.

As an adult it has spread to not only include crafting, but gardening projects that are half done, a couch that is not upholstered so it's covered in fabric pieces, drywall primed and not painted for over 6 years now!

There is no method to my madness.

Let me tell you something. The lighting is covering a ton of flaws on this doll. I should wait till night and take  some pictures with a flash.

I made her with button joints and her arms and legs move nicely. Her legs are about an inch too long. She measures 17" and I was going for a 16" doll.

Next step is her hair. She's going to have light brown hair even though Luca requested pink. I'll make a pink haired doll soon but I wanted this one to look like a mini Luca. The eyes are a bit too light but I didn't have good shades of blue embroidery thread on hand.

Beautiful embroidery. She's turning out perfectly!

That doll is simultaneously awesome and kind of creepy just sitting there (tell her to stop looking at me!) :)

Wow! You're making such progress. She looks great. My doll is only half-stuffed now. And it's a tiny one :) Maybe I'll make some progress this weekend.

I'm usually very impulsive when it comes to projects. The past year hasn't allowed for that...but it's often in those creative spurts of energy that I'll actually finish a few things. It just might not be the project I spent all afternoon buying supplies for that I "had to make" :)

Your doll is amazing. Such talent from the post where you were changing the pattern. That takes patience and talent, wow. She looks worth the time that I can only imagine went into her.

What a darling doll and I think it looks great! So fun that Luca will have a mini me around to play with.

Those eyes are absolutely incredible! I can't wait to see the final product and really looking forward to seeing the pink-haired doll. As for unfinished projects go, I have scads (scads!). I've had issues with buying supplies and then never using them. Over the past two years I've really, really purged my craft/sewing stash and it's made me feel slightly less guilty. I also try really hard to stay out of fabric and craft stores and keep street trash out of my car - someone's junk is another's treasure yes, but my track record is that it then becomes MY junk! Also, the less supplies I have on hand (and the more I stay off Pinterest and blogs) the better I feel about myself it seems. I haven't been focusing my creative energy on crafting/sewing as much, but I've been super creative in other aspects of my life. Seriously Sascha I am continually amazed at your beautiful creations, gorgeous photos and your ability to create as much as you do. I know you want to do so much more, but from this end, you're rockin' it!

I love her! I kinda dig the long legs (maybe because I've got awkwardly long legs). I can't wait to see her hair. You are totally ruling this whole doll making thing!
