Ha. How do you like that play on words? Sew original I'm sure. Okay, I better stop with the comedy and get on with the joke...
That pocket killed me. This project is what makes sewing with knits frustrating. If it wasn't a pocket I would have used some kind of fusible something to keep the pocket from wiggling around while stitching. Hey, babies don't use pockets. Maybe that's what I should do next time.
I wanted to have contrast stitching which further accentuates the sewing flaws. I'm not getting too down on myself because it is my first attempt at this pocket. I'm hoping to improve on my next version. Greatly improve.
Pattern: "Muksis" Ottobre 1/2009
Edited to add Cenzo wearing the shirt. Oh and wearing a plastic bag scarf. So safe. I swear I went to the bathroom and this is how he looked when I returned. Since he wasn't being strangled by the "scarf" I ran and got my camera.
Another Edit: A few weeks ago I saw this outfit and forgot to bookmark the page. This morning I was furiously searching the internet for my inspiration photo (I wanted to give credit for the color combo. Totally not my idea). I could have sworn I saw it on Flickr. Anyhoo, lucky me because when Greatjen left a comment I immediately had the lightbulb go off in my head. That's where I saw the shirt. So go visit her site 'cause her version doesn't have a bleeped up front pocket!

It's still really cute!! And you did an amazing job matching the stripes. Do you think the ripples will steam out? They aren't terribly noticeable, even if they don't.
I don't know what you're talking about -- that pocket looks great!
I love the shirt, and I love the red trim with the Kumquat stripes. Great combo. Now off to see if I have that Otto...
The farbenmixers have an new product called stylefix - perfect for something like this, my first thought. You could also use temporary fabric adhesive, my second thought.
The shirt looks awsome!
Oh dear, LOVE that little shirt! And I LOVE your blog?? I have only just discovered it, but I will most certainly be returning.
Um....Am I missing it? What's the problem? ;) Looks great to me!
LOVE the color combo and the pocket looks smashing!
Love the shirt! I usually use a little spray quilting adhesive to keep slippery things together. It washes right out and doesn't add weight like Steam-A-Seam. The other option is Wonder Tape, that would work to keep it in place, too.
I am glad I am not the only one who lets my little guy make huge messes so i can either finish a few seams or read through one more blog.
Okay, it's official...you are a sewing with knits genius!
You should sign up for Pinterest and keep all of those great photos in one place, so they don't have to drive you crazy! I do love the little pocket.
I LOVE Pinterest. I actually am signed up for it but I always forget to "pin" things, which is too bad because they certainly make it easy enough.
