A New Challenge

I've been lurking around quite a few different blogs these past few weeks. I should say a few new-to-me blogs. Lot's of sewing, but not for kids. I recently decided I want to make some clothes for myself. If I ever get around to it remains to be seen. I still have yet to go further than cutting out a few pair of panties.

What I have in mind is actually very much not my norm...

I want to make a 50's vintage style dress. Maybe with a modern twist. I found a dress by Burdastyle that I like.

Actually if I could make this exact dress I'd be totally thrilled. I lurve me some blue. There are so many talented bloggers out there making amazing vintage style clothing.  I am totally inspired.

I have purchased some fabric and I hope when it arrives it will work for a dress. I bought a pale blue hopefully like the picture above and a black pique. I don't always have the best luck with online fabric shopping. I haven't decided if I'm going to make a petticoat for the dress. It may be too over the top.

Oh yeah, the reason for the dress is we have an event to go to in September for Chefs work. Not a dressy thing, but a look kinda decent kinda thing. I figure why not?

Oooh, fun!! I like this dress, but I'd need an event to make it, too. I can't wait to see it! And the petticoat is totally essential.

I also need to benefit from a serious kick in the ass. let's hope that with an actual deadline (the event), I will come up with something.

Can't wait to see what you make! It's so different sewing for yourself - I just made my first wearable item, and it's actually pretty exciting! :)

Wouldn't you just love to live in a dress like that, looking so fabulous all day?

Fun! I can't wait to see how it turns out (it will of course be stunning). I have a very special place in my heart for vintage fashion - it's timeless and classy and just...special.
