Camping is like childbirth

I am married to a crazy man. Who in their right mind takes a 12 month old not-yet-walking baby, a blind child and a pain in the ass 6 year old camping? Apparently we do.

And what's this you ask? The  traffic we encountered on the way home. I believe this is considered light traffic to the locals. I mean it is San Francisco.

The funny thing is now that we are back and I'm writing this post I have nothing but fond memories. It's like I have completely forgotten that we were camping in the woods with about 6 hundred million other Californians. I have also forgotten about how fun it was to "shush" a baby multiple times per night so that some of those millions of kind folks didn't run us out of the campground. Of course who can forget the dirt. Holy crap I had a crawling baby in the world's dustiest campsites to ever exist.

So clearly camping is like childbirth. Once you forget the pain and discomfort, all you have left are great memories and interesting photos. Yay! When are we doing it again? I'm talking about childbirth. Screw that camping crap.

P.s. I did not bring my laptop (it weighs like 15 lbs.)... hint hint Santa, I want the iPad and my iPhone just wasn't cutting the mustard.

Perfect!...it is just like childbirth, for all those reasons! We took our 4 kids camping last year, and this year (Non-walking twins last year) This year with all the kids walking was better, for sure.

Way to go S!! We haven't even attempted it yet. You are a rockstar mama!! I don't know why I am petrified of camping with my wee ones....

I know people do it all the time but I can't imagine camping with kids. Just thinking about it makes me anxious.

My husband is convinced it's no biggie. So we will be doing this again in a week with a 5, a 3, and a just kind walking-almost-1-year-old. Ohboyohboyohboy! Apparently last time's experience of our then almost 2 year old trying to drown herself didn't convice him differently...

I completely feel your pain on taking a non-walking baby camping. What a freaking mess! Although I'm not so sure that the pain of our camping trip has faded in my mind. But you should probably know that I hold grudges better than most human beings...
