Oliver + S Knit Pants

I've had the Oliver + S Nature Walk Pullover and Knit Pants pattern since it was released and finally I got around to tracing the pattern. I sure wish I had done it sooner. It is literally the fastest garment I have ever sewn. Like lightening fast. Two inseams on the serger, two yoke seams on the serger, stitch elastic closed in a loop, insert elastic and attach yoke. Oh and hem, but the pants in the photo aren't even hemmed yet. Luca was so excited to try them on that I didn't get the chance to hem them yet.

I altered the pattern slightly by making the leg wider. I just eyeballed it and I must have added at least 2-3 inches of width near the bottom and tapered up to the original pattern at the waist. I did this because the fabric is such a slinky jersey and I didn't want it to cling. I think I'll go even wider next time. I'd like to make more of a gaucho pant style out of these. Did I mention how fast these were to make?

p.s. I love Oliver + S patterns. So well designed and fabulous instructions.

I JUST bought that pattern earlier in the week. I'm so glad to know how quickly they stitch up (though I don't own a serger, so...yeah...) and how cute they are! Love the stripes and the hip cocked to one side cracks me up!

Adorable, as always. My daughter has a lot of sensory issues and most of the time will only wear Osh Kosh yoga pants. With a little rhinestone heart on the hip. (sigh) I'm always looking for something else she will wear and had thought about buying this pattern but wasn't quite sure. Yours look fantastic, though. I'm kind of worried about the rise in the back being too low for her (which is the problem with some other Yoga pants) but I bet I could alter them. Hmmm.

Thanks for posting these. I have seen quite a few of these made up and that don't look that flattering - however, these look great. Good idea on adding the extra width.

I agree with Jennifer -- I've seen many of these made up as designed and didn't think they were flattering -- the extra width is a huge improvement.

these look awesome, I was just reading more about knits last night, now to find a good place to buy them. :)

I will definitely be making these again very soon. I'll post more detailed comments on the alterations next time when I make them gaucho style. I'll also list some knit sources. It is really hard to find good knits but there are some out there.
